What I learned this week....

(Hopefully I can post this correctly - I messed up the last time I tried to participate in this bloggy party. *blushes*) If you want to party at this carnival of knowledge click here.

My learnings have actually come from a culmination over the summer. Our 'vacations' have been visiting with family members in their homes. I admit I am a pack rat (kind of reformed being that I moved from a house into a smaller apartment last summer and had to purge a lot of stuff) and I am not saying that the people we have visited are pack rats but they have way more 'stuff' out and about than I do. So I could not help but be anxious in their homes as my toddler is very curious. She constantly worried that she was into something she should not be into. The relatives didn't mind but there was always the temptation of things she should not have with in her reach. I worried about choking or her ingesting things that are not meant to be consumed.

So what I have learned is.....visiting is fun, hard work but there is no place like your own home. <3

Here here! I've found that outings at other (toddler-free) homes can be quite stressful. Plenty of, "Oh, it's ok if she breaks it...", not thinking that if she "breaks it" it will likely be because it fell on her head or that it will break into something sharp! Ugh!

ITA. It's definitely not relaxing to be in a non-kid-friendly home! My kids are great and don't usually mess with stuff, but still...

Traveling with toddlers is never really a vacation, is it? They move faster than adult eyes can move.

Glad to know I am not alone. lol I was very thankful that I did not have to cook/clean up from meals and my aunt had my morning coffee ready for me everyday. There was the added bonus of sleeping in until 9am since my kids went to bug the other relatives! :)

Ah yes, I remember those days - visiting with little ones. It is stressful, but it DOES get better. :-)
