Life goes on?

For some maybe....

Just as I got the news that I am gainfully employed for the next school year (as our school district has to cut $64 million) I also got the news that a dear old friend had passed suddenly 2 weeks ago. I had not spoken to her since 2003. Just "too busy" I supposed and now I will never get the chance to. RIP Rikki.

Choices....

Do I engulf myself into FB or blogging or reading the last in the Twilight series or do I cook dinner or pick up the girls earlier so we can take a dip in the pool or workout or tan?

Do I have to be the adult, the responsible one, the one who puts the girls' needed before mine?

Back to work tomorrow after two days enjoying myself at a workshop. :(

Life goes on.....

In total agreement....

for 18 year olds

The Pink Fly

The 18 month old got sent home from day care with pink eye. I had to ban the middie from the 1's room as I was gathering the baby's stuff. When we got out to the car I tried to explain the reason to her (highly contagious, baby's sick, etc.). She was telling her Daddy later about the 'pink fly' in the one's room and how she didn't see one in there so she didn't know what the big deal was.

My master plan, bwahahaha......

The wheels have been turning and so these thought begun.

Things I want to remember to execute in the near future (hopefully).....

1) I want to purchase 3 large fluffy towels in 3 different shades of pink. Then have each of the girls' names embroidered on them (one name per shade - I will assign these). That way they have one towel to use, a clean spare one and an extra for "emergencies". I will do the same with big fluffy white ones for me (i like to bleach mine) and Big Daddy is settling for a beige color (he'd prefer black or dark blue but that will not go with the mental motiffe I have for our master bathroom in our new house once we sell our old one and purchase a new one here).

2) I am going to buy a cute binder and baseball card insert holders to clip/organize coupons more effectively. My pile system does not work but I know the binder does from seveeral other Mommies like those here.

3)I am going to make a chore list for the girls for the summer and if their chores are not done, not matter how badly I want to go to the beach or pool or park or library or other super fun outing, we will not go.

4) I have discovered today the best way to avoid confrontation when nagging orders to my children is to tell them ONE thing to do at a time and then CHECK to make sure it was completely properly. I have deduced that they have the short term memory span of a goldfish. Since my mind is always multitasking I tend to give multiple directives and this has not worked in the past. Today (so far....knocking on wood) one thing at a time is working. Ahhhhhhhhh....

5)Since I already have the school supplies list for my soon-to-be Kindie girl, I am will buy a few school supplies each WM/Target visit, that way I can shop sales and not spend a fortune in the middle of August. Maybe my soon-to-be second grader will get her list and I can do this shopping once.

6) Before school starts in August I will have a budget/idea for each of the girls' fall birthdays. We have one is September and 2 in October. Again easily a small fortune could be spent on these.

That is all for now...I am having writer's block....I will continue later when the hamsters start moving again.

5 things....

I was doing this in response to Friday Blog party here but could not complete it until Saturday. I am tardy. :( Better late than never, I guess....

In no random order - 5 things I love - beyond obvious answers like God, family, pets, etc....

Bright pink painted toes - mine or otherwise (my feet are probably the ugliest example...sorry....). The only thing that would make it better would be a touch of sparkles in the pinkness.

Our ceiling fans. Yes, I know these are design no no's but when you live in the Sunshine state these are heaven sent to circulate the air.

My itty bitty surprise bday laptop. Allows me to be on the 'puter no matter where I am with out the massive beastie laptopedness of the old guys.

My "dress" flip flops. These are Clarks and the picture does not do them justice. These are my go-to work shoes and I love that! Crocs are my second choice. :) This is a twofer then as I also LOVE the fact that I am allow to wear such items as work shoes!

Lastly for today, I love the view from my balcony. Very serene to look at as well as hear the fountain (which you can't see in this picture...again, sorry). Ahhhhh.......

Hope you have enjoyed my peeks....

Slump...

I have been in a major slump this week. A rut that has me feeling blah. It could be because I returned to work from a good spring break. It could be because we are sacrificing financially big time until the house up north sell. It could be because my red headed auntie Flo is visiting. ;) I am just ready to be happy again. If I had the $$$ I would buy some fake happiness (aka alcohol) to help me out of this funk. Today I will get my Friday serving of $1 Margaritas but not enough to impair me from driving so only partially happy. lol I have also decided I am going to be productive this weekend instead of whiny to get back on my exercise wagon and put on my big girl panties and deal with the life I have (cleaning, being Mommy, grading papers, planning for butthead who don't appreciate my efforts, etc.). I am going to partake in Nester's challenge and do a picture/info post about the top 5 things I love. I am going to exclude the easy choices of people (sorry, girls - I will probably take your picture though....). I will make it out of this hole. I will survive!

Just my usualy randomness.....

Been on spring break this past week - LOVED IT! I wished they would continue to send me the paycheck and let me stay at home with my lovelies. This week, well the last couple days of it anyway, I had a preview of the summer to come. I am really going to have to be motivated to get out of the house with all the girls. The middie and the lil' little were the only ones home with me yesterday (the oldie went to see Hannah Montana with a friend) and I totally vegged out! lol The little one has learned to open doors so I need to get those annoying doorknob covers for all our doors. While I am baby proofing I might as well get the fridge lock too as she now gets in there when she pleases too. Such a smarty pants, independent thing!

Middie got her tonsils and adenoids out and seems to be healing just fine - if only I can keep her resting. She is loving all the "free" Popsicles though. :)

The g-ma and niecey were down for most of the time and I really enjoyed having them around. I wished they were here all the time. Niecey just needs to up and move down here so she does not get sucked into the black hole that is our little hometown. The G-mas has an open invited anytime but she is not going anywhere no matter what. The G-ma really pitied us in the food department other wise our "Easter dinner" probably would only be Ramen Noodles. The house up north just needs to sell. We are drowning.....I wished we had been living extravagantly so that I could easily cut things out to save our budget but we have really been simple folks. Other than deciding to starve, we cannot cut anything out. It really depresses me as I don't even rally know the magnitude of the numbers since DH deals with all that (much stronger mentally than I am). St. Joesph is now buried in our yard there so according to my Mom that will help?! I wonder if he can help me find my lost necklace too???? :( I don't even want to talk about that.

I have now read the first in the Twilight series and am halfway through the second one. I have the other two awaiting me in pdf form as well as the 5th one not yet released (Twilight from Edward's perspective). I am actually liking to read them but hate having to cut off the outside world to really enjoy the reading as well as starting/stopping when I am needed by the girls - that is almost WORSE that commercials! lol

In more hopeful spirits...my NB entry is complete and waiting to be packed. Waiting to be sent. I will retest the 13th of May. Hopefully God is keeping his blessings in that respect flowing to me as he gave me the knowledge to pass that Chem test.

I guess one last thought and worth while one to end on is He is risen - regardless of my money issues and all other things I am saved.
